(NO SPOILERS)I bought this when it was on sale for 0.99, but after reading I would pay full price for this. I spent entire reading both books;however seeing how short the first book was buying this as a 2 book set was a better deal than the first 2 separate. I absolutely loved this book(s).
Books that jump to different characters in the book can be confusing at times but I never was confused with who the character was on. The story line was completely entertaining and have me enthralled from the start and had me wanted more and more. The ending of these books made me yell "I KNEW IT!" and wanting more.
I would definitely this and can NOT wait to read the next book!

I like the story, but it's a little strange to see her trusting the vampire Prince so easily. She should be very leary of him. I'm also curious to see what will happen with her friend Ben. Good read.
I have had 4 favorite vampire series for years. Twilight, Sookie Stackhouse, Vampire Diaries, and Fire and Ice. I have read many, many vampire books, mostly series. If you saw my you would be amazed at how many of the 600+ books I have are vampire books. None have captured my attention like the about 4 other than Shadow of a Vampire. If you like vampire books, you should read this series.
Derek and Sofia are as good of a vampire/human couple as are Edward/Bella, Eric/Sookie, Bill/Sookie, Damon/Elena, Stefan/Elena. Their difficulties have made me cry as much as all the above couples. The situations they face always make me think "how will they get through this?" I had never heard of this author before but she is a very good writer and really brings you into the story. There are 6 books as of now. I am almost done with number 3. The newest Vampire Diaries can wait until I am done with all 6 books.
The vampire's in this series are all flawed, even the "good ones". There is not only an epic battle between the "good" and "Bad" vampires, but also between Derek and his father Gregor. The humans in these books are for one purpose, so serve the vampires in one way or the other. The humans also make sure the Shade runs smoothly with all of their hard work. Sofia comes along and tries to change a lot about the island. She is torn as is Derek. Sofia feels a pull to make sure the humans stay safe but also a strong pull towards Derek because she is so deeply in love with him. But she does not simply forget the humans because of that love. She stands strong against both Derek and the rest of the humans. Even if it means she may die. Derek finds himself torn between being the Prince of the Shade and a vampire and the love of his life. Many people assure Sofia that in all his years and all the women he has been with, he has never fallen in love with a woman before.
Like I said, I'm on books 3 and I cannot wait to see where the lives and love of Derek and Sofia head! Love this series and I am sue it will be like Twilight and the Sookie books for me, books I will re-read and re-read.
I read books one and two in 2 days. Love the series so far and I just got books 3,4,5 and 6 today and can't wait to get home from work and continue on. I love vampire romance and have been looking for a new series to read. Well I found it. I just hope book 6 isn't the end. I will know sometime this weekend and will be disappointed if it ends but I am sure I will love the other books. The story catches you from page one and makes you want to read on and on and on!!!! Great job Bella!!!!
I like the story it's refreshing in certain aspects and makes for a good read. I like as well as dislike reading the story through the minds of so many characters as it takes me out of the main character mind so often that I sometimes forget I'm reading through another character
I will say it is not my favorite Vimpire series however it has captured my interest and I may read more of this series. I find a Vampire society that is kidnapping large numbers of humans will be most definately hunted down and destroyed. correcting the decedance of this society parellels what we need to do to clean up our political system.
This series is an interesting take on vampires. They are both evil and sympathetic at the same time. To have the reader be able to feel sympathy for a villain is a sign of good writing. I would recommend this for anyone who is into the vampire romance genre. This story is romance, not erotica, just to be clear.
I found both book one and two to be fascinating as they offered a different twist to the standard vampire paranormal reading experience. Derek, as the newly awakened prince of The Shade, makes such an intriguing character that it's hard not to like him even when he has done such awful things. Sofia, as Derek's mate, makes for an interesting character with heart, conscientiousness, and smarts. I'm looking forward to see what havoc the hunters, Ben, Lucas, Gregor, and the crazy other covens make of Sofia and Derek's relationship.
